THE REGION ... cotes du rhone (france)
Wines have been produced in the Côte du Rhône since pre Roman times, and those from
the right bank were the favorite wines of kings and the papal community in Avignon
at the time of the schism. In the mid 17th century the right-bank district of had
issued regulations to govern the quality of its wine and in 1737 the king ordered
that casks of wine shipped from the nearby river port of Roquemaure should be branded
with the letters CDR to introduce a system of protecting its origin. The rules
for its Côte du Rhône thus formed the very early basis of today's nationwide AOC
system governed by the INAO. The name was changed to Côtes du Rhône when the left-bank
wines were included in the appellation some hundred years later.
OUR PRODUCERS ...MAS DES RESTANQUESDOMAINE DES FLORETS |
MAS DES RESTANQUES
The history of Mas des Restanques began in 1995 with the union of our two families; one from the heart of Provence
and the other from the foot of the Dentelles near Vaucluse;
also in Provence. Mas des Restanques consists of 9 hectares divided between two prestigious appellations: 6 ha in Vacqueyras, 2 ha
in Gigondas and 1 ha if Vin de Pays / Cotes du Rhone. The name of the domain is made from the Provencal word restanco, which is the
name used for walls that are built if the vineyards are very steep. Until 2006 the grapes were delivered to the local cooperative.
In 2007 a new cellar was ready for the first vintage bottled at the domain. Since 2012 the vineyards are certified agriculture biologique (Organic).
The first vintage of this small Domaine was in 2007. Harvesting is completely by hand. Elevage takes place in cement vats. |

extends for over 8 hectares of steep ground. Myriam and Jérôme Boudier have owned the property and made the wines at the Domaine since 2006.The vines are planted 500 meters
above sea level and boast an average age of 40 years. With respect for this countryside, and the traditional vines in the GIGONDAS AOC, such as Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre
