CHOICES is designed to empower young female students and their partners to discuss
critical health issues affecting their lives and their community; and to become
actively involved to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS in the Latino community.
Peer Educators work closely with their campus administration to rehearse and
perform interactive and age-appropriate vignettes addressing these difficult
issues on the UCC campus. The vignettes, adapted in the students' own words,
incorporate bicultural nuances and themes that are in line with subscribed
prevention messages ... the students can relate!
At the same time, CHOICES helps to form long-lasting friendships and develop leadership
qualities to benefit students in their current
academic and social lives, as well as future professional careers. Our cast
members built these bonds by joining in a unified
sense of purpose.
And they had fun!
